Magenta Balloon Dog by Jeff Koons

Artist and sculptor Jeff Koons began his “Celebration” artwork series in 1990. This series centered on one primary theme; the delights of children. From the birthday cake to building blocks to the clown inspired balloon animals, these pieces will delight art lovers of all ages. The artist himself said of this series “It is about celebration and childhood and color and simplicity.”

The balloon dog sculptures are made from polished stainless steel then finished with orange, yellow, blue, red or magenta. The complexity of this project required the expertise and skill of decorators, glazers and modelers alike. They were able to create an unprecedented huge version of a balloon dog down to very minute details. In 2008, several of his pieces were exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
